Electrical Engineering is core branch of Engineering and play key role in country's development. Electrical
Engineers are in high demand in Government, Public as well as in Private sector Companies.
The Electrical Engineering provides graduates with a wide range of fundamental knowledge in core
disciplines such as, control systems, power generation and electrical machines, circuit analysis,
high voltage engineering and power system. Emphasis is placed on underlying principles and techniques
so that graduate engineers will be able to learn and seamlessly adapt to new technologies when they
emerge to face future challenges.
Electrical engineers design and create devices, systems and equipments which use electricity either
as a form of energy or to carry information. Electrical engineering encompasses a broad range of
fields concerned with leading edge technologies in many applications.
The Department has strong industry interaction and has been involved in development of state-of-art products
for industry. It has extensive fabrication, calibration and testing facilities for carrying out industry
sponsored research and consultancy projects.
The Department is highly active in promoting & organizing industrial visits & workshops for its students
which are conducted by some of the best professionals in the industry. These visits and workshops are
immensely beneficial for the students to understand the current needs of the industry and to make them
industry ready.
The research interests of the faculty members encompass a wide gamut of sub-disciplines of Electrical Engineering.
Collaboration with faculty members from other disciplines, both within and outside the institute, is encouraged.
The research activity of the department includes fundamental research, sponsored and consultancy projects, and
is carried out with active participation of the students, faculty and research engineers. The lab facilities
and the infrastructure are regularly upgraded and are well supported by the institute and the industry.
